SUMMARY:Friday Bar: Drinks & Demos
DESCRIPTION:With a little help from our friends next door @scrollbaritu\, we were able to open up the AIR LAB Friday Bar! We were so happy to see both old and new friends in the lab\, joining us for drinks n’ demos! Wether it’s a casual friday chat or an important design project\, collaborating and getting together is really what it’s all about here in the lab!

SUMMARY:CreativeCodingClub#2
DESCRIPTION:In the first half March 2023\, we hosted our second installation of our Creative Coding Club! We opened our doors\, and facilitated a workshop wherein students were invited to play with Arduino\, and a variety of different input- and output devices. \nThe design pitch was to create an idea for how AI could express itself. After an introduction to Arduino and the available sensors and actuators\, students brainstormed creative ideas for how this expression could be brought to life with Arduino. \nThe space started buzzing with ideas for designs and how to make them. For the next couple of hours\, the participants were learning\, experimenting and having fun. \nStay tuned for future Creative Coding Club-events!

SUMMARY:AIR Lab Relaunch 2023
DESCRIPTION:THANKS FOR JOING OUR RELAUNCH FIGMA EVENT 🫶 We had a great time in the lab for this years first event! @dditaktivitetskomite had invited Senior Product Designer @asikjaer from @duckwisestudio to host a Figma workshop for students at ITU. Besides being an awesome and useful masterclass\, the event marked the beginning of an exciting semester for us here in AIRLAB! We look forward to help you all with project and equipment support\, not to mention a Friday bar and more creative coding clubs!

SUMMARY:CreativeCodingClub#1
DESCRIPTION:In april AIRLab hosted the very first Creative Coding Club! Creative Coding Club is a workshop aimed at establishing an informal coding-events for students all across ITU. For this initial soft launch of CCC\, we invited students to design an Album Artwork in Processing. The workshop was kicked off with a general introduction to Processing and generative art\, before we initiated a lot of sketching and coding. Collaboration between students let to a lot of original and icon album artwork!

SUMMARY:Breathing Commons Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Our research group hosted a great workshop on the topic of “Breathing Commons” on Friday 6th of November at the AIR Lab. \nWe did individual and collective breathing Exercises\, which was a challenging and discursive activity to pursue during Covid pandemic times. However\, this helped us to reflect on the importance of breathing and the changing perception of what breathing means these days. We collected and documented first-person experiences of breathing using Body Maps\, followed by sharing those with one another. \nWe also listened to pre-recorded (individual) breathings collectively\, and we reflected on and discussed how the breaths sound – and what the recordings of breaths do to our experiences of breathing as a sociosonic material. \nDuring the last part of the workshop we experienced breathing rhythms through actuated materials. We felt on our backs how shape-change inflatable latex shapes “breathe” and shared our first-person experiences of having these actuating materials breathe while touching our bodies. This was followed by observations on the “liveliness of such other material bodies” breathing in and out. \nWe are planning a second workshop in December\, which will include collective exercises for reflecting on the “commons” aspect of breathing\, and explorations with programmable inputs and outputs of letting air in and out of shape-change materials.

SUMMARY:AIR Lab Workshop Series #3: Disharmonizing Spheres
DESCRIPTION:A creative coding workshop on interactive sound and light spaces – a collaboration between ITU and the Rhythmic Music Conservatory\n \nDuring this workshop students from the RMC (Rhythmic Music Conservatory) and ITU (IT University of Copenhagen) will collaborate on creating interactive sound and light spaces. They will work with sound and light design\, the Kinect sensor and creative coding (in Processing).\nThe workshop is structured around an existing installation framework made in collaboration between art duo Foo/Skou (Louise Foo/Martha Skou) and AIR LAB during the development of the Foo/Skou installation Disharmony of Spheres.\nParticipants will work in cross-disciplinary teams with both ITU and RMC students. This way the teams will both have sound design\, and coding skills.\nRequirements for participating is either being an RMC student on the course (Musical expressions for new interfaces)\, or an ITU students with basic coding skills. The workshop can host 7 RMC students and 14 ITU students.\n \n[Registration through Eventbrite ticket link is demanded]\n \nCoding skills\nIf you have a general understanding of the coding concepts (variables\, if statements\, functions) you will be able to follow this workshop.\nHave you never tried Processing programming before please look at 1 hour interactive tutorial\, “Hello Processing”\, and skip around it as much as you like. If you would like more on Processing\, take a look at the Coding Train Processing tutorials.\nhttps://hello.processing.org/\nhttps://www.youtube.com/c/TheCodingTrain/playlists\n \n \nWorkshop recourses\nCode and other resources can be downloaded from the AIR LAB workshop github repository.\nhttps://github.com/airla…/Workshop-3-Disharmonizing-spaces\n \n \nPreparations\nDownload and install the Processing IDE (https://processing.org/download)\nInstall a trial or a paid version of Ableton Live\n– https://www.ableton.com/en/trial/\nDownload the workshop resources from the github\n– https://github.com/airla…/Workshop-3-Disharmonizing-spaces\nITU students: Get familiar with Processing coding\nRMC students: Get familiar with the basics of Ableton Live\n\n

SUMMARY:MINOR MOVEMENTS
DESCRIPTION:EVENT: infrastructures for un/recommoning\nHow can we explore infrastructures for un/recommoning that engage us affectively\, prompt us to reassess value systems and allow us to come together differently (on the level of divergent collective bodies (ourselves\, communities\, environments)) through processes of attunement facilitated by a number of techniques and technologies? \nMinor Movements; Infrastructures for un/recommoning was carried out as part of the Immediations project in Collaboration with Kasper Levin (affiliation) and Birgit Bundesen (Psychiatric Center Amager). More than 30 national and international people participated in the 2-day workshop event\, and AIR LAB hosted the activities on the 2nd day. The participants populated the lab\, atrium and surrounding environments\, and explored\, tore apart and re-designed a range of interactive installations specifically created for the collective coming-together of the event – among other things BERMUDA and the (Spatial Sonic) Contour.  \nHere’s a link to visit the Sonic Contour created from the listening session facilitated by Arendse Krabbe and Rune Nørager on Day 1 of the event (only works in Firefox or Chrome!): http://www.itu.dk/people/moja/airlab/sound/mm_cph_2019_1/ \nCredits \nAIR LAB: Jonas Fritsch\, Mogens Jacobsen\, Halfdan Hauch Jensen\, Victor Permild. \n

SUMMARY:AIR Lab Workshop Series #1: Interactive Projections
DESCRIPTION:In the 2019 fall semester\, AIR LAB hosted a workshop about creating interactive spaces with projections. For the workshop we made use of the Processing IDE and the lab’s ceiling-mounted\, floor-facing Microsoft Kinect body tracker and Projector setup. After an introduction to the hardware\, participants were provided with example code\, that could later be used as templates to build upon\, to create one’s own interactive experience. At the end of the workshop\, participants presenter their interactive projections/experiences\, using one’s own body tracking as a sensor input. For instance\, one participant made a game where the user had to dodge a ball moving about in the frame. This sketch was then projected onto the floor\, and users would have to run around to not have the ball hit their body. See a screenshot from this sketch below. \nIf you missed the workshop\, or want to revisit the code and documentation\, you can find all the workshop material on our Github page
